Flu Prevention
Hancock Families,
We have had multiple confirmed cases of the flu. To prevent widespread flu within the school, we recommend that your child stay home from school if experiencing flu or cold-like symptoms. To decide whether or not to send your child to school, please consider the following guidelines.
Keep your child home for treatment and observation if he or she has any of these symptoms:
  •   Fever – greater than 100 degrees (Your child should stay home for at least 24 hours after the fever is gone without the use of fever-reducing medicines)
  • Vomiting (even if only once)
  • Diarrhea
  • Chills
  • Fatigue or muscle aches
  • Congested cough
  • Nasal congestion that requires frequent blowing of their nose
Many local pharmacies are running low or completely running out of Tamiflu.
Please be sure your child brings their water bottle to school every day. The water fountains will be shut down. Thank you for your help in keeping our students healthy!
Sincerely,
Brigitte Lawlor, RN
School Nurse

These local women took time out of their busy days to come and read to our first and second grade classes. The children loved the visit, as did the teachers! WTOC wrote an article on the event as well as filmed a short segment which appeared on television.
