Spotlight on the Arts
The first grade program was last Friday and it was a huge success! Thank you to the parents, students and teachers, especially Mr. John Pollock!
Hancock’s First Film Festival
The middle school hosted the first “Unnamed Film Festival” this past Friday. Student films in the categories of PSA, Mockumentary, Silent, Ocean, Foreign Language, and Animation entertained the crowd and competed for audience selected “Best of…” awards.
Congratulations Candice English – AncestryK12 Grant
HDS would like to wish a big congratulations to middle school teacher Candice English! Mrs. English secured a grant for the school from Ancestry.com. The school gets a free year of their service starting onMay 7th. This includes Ancestry Classroom, Fold3 and Newspapers.com. The seventh and eighth grades will be using it for research as well as ancestry and interview projects. Thank you Mrs. English!!

4/24: There will be a golf match tomorrow, weather permitting, from 4:00 to 6:00 pm at Southbridge.
Soccer:
4/23: Girls Soccer 6:00 pm vs St. James at Windosr Forest, weather permitting
4/24: Boys 6:15 pm vs St. James at Scarborough Baseball Park (Turf Field)
4/25: Friendly match between HDS and BSS younger teams 5:00 pm on Knight Field
4/26: Girls 6:00 pm vs Calvary at SCPS
The boys team is currently ranked #2 out of 8 for SPAL Soccer. The girls team is currently ranked #6 out of 10 for SPAL soccer.
*Star Shooter Basketball Camp will take place in May. Available to boys and girls 4th grade and up. Please stop by the office for a registration form.*
Fifth Grade Author Meet and Greet
Last week our students got the amazing privilege of meeting author Kwame Alexander! Alexander is a poet, educator and New York Times bestselling author of 25 books. The students read his book, Rebound, earlier this year and were very excited to hear him speak. Lula Tollison was even called up to read with Alexander during the event at the public library.
