Our son loves school

We looked at several schools, but Hancock felt right from the minute we entered. Our son loves school, and we are beyond thrilled at what he is learning and the approach of the whole child the teachers use. Hancock is the perfect fit for us.

Academically challenging

Kindness

“Kindness with firmness plus consistency equals security for a child.  Enthusiasm, talent, interest, initiative, and willingness to motivate are contagious and make learning challenging for a child.  With these qualities at Hancock Day School, the children know we care. We have the love and respect of the children; therefore, learning is spontaneous.”

The Hancock Way

“The Hancock Way means working hard and collaborating.  We were taught to push ourselves individually, but to always know that we could do better if we worked together.”

My Time at Hancock

“I found two of my best friends during my time at Hancock.  I also learned to treat people the way that you want to be treated.  Being a jerk never wins anyone over.”

The Hancock Way

“The Hancock Way has guided and nurtured me into the person I am today. It equipped me with the disciplines and values needed to face trials and challenges in the years that followed. It taught me how to persevere through adversity, be a leader with humility, ask for help when needed, express gratitude for the overlooked, and show compassion in everything I do. It is hard to define the Hancock Way because it is seen in actions more than words, through the help of the teachers, staff, parents, and students at HDS. It is something you can only completely understand through experiencing it.”

Teaches Respect

“The Hancock Way teaches respect, responsibility, and character.  I think that’s useful for your everyday life as well as your school life.  Having strong morals helps you create strong friendships and develop relationships with adults-- like your teachers.  And teachers love nothing more than a student with manners.”

One of a kind

We couldn't be happier that our paths led us to Hancock Day School. The learning experience our son is receiving is not only one of a kind, but also nurturing and kind. We are so happy that he wakes up excited to go to school and is picked up excited to share what he learned for the day.

Do you pay Georgia State taxes?

If you pay state taxes in Georgia, did you know you can redirect a portion to your favorite independent school of your choice… Go Eagles!

Hancock partners with Apogee Scholarship Fund to administer this opportunity for students who are entering private schools from public school or entering grades Pre-K, Kindergarten and First Grade and who are academically and financially eligible.

Last year, the $58 million cap was met in record time!

A new $58 million will become available again on Janaury 1, 2018.  As we expect the 2018 tax credit cap to again be met on the first business day of the year, we strongly recommend early participation. Apogee will begin accepting early applications on August 1, 2017.

Steps to Participate:

Visit www.apogeebase.com/donate and click “New Donor” or

“Repeat Donor.”

Maximum Redirection Amounts by Filing Methods

  • Individuals can redirect up to $1,000 of their GA tax liability.
  • Couples filing jointly can redirect up to $2,500 of their GA tax liability.
  • Married couples filing separately can redirect up to $1,250 of their GA tax liability.
  • C-Corporation and Trusts that pay Georgia taxes can designate up to 75% of their GA tax liability.
  • S-Corp/LLC/Partnerships, shareholders of S-Corps, members of LLCs or partners of Partnerships can redirect up to $10,000.

(Pass-Through Taxpayer)

Upon receipt  of your form (either paperless or printed), Apogee will submit your form to the Georgia Department of Revenue.  Apogee will notify you by email when your tax credit application is approved.  In order to finalize your participation, Apogee must receive your payment within 60 days of the state’s approval either by mail to the Apogee address below or online at www.apogee123.org/payments.  Checks should be made payable to Apogee Scholarship Fund.

Your participation in the Georgia Private School Tax Credit Program is not considered a donation to Hancock Day School but rather a redirection of your tax liability already owed to the state of Georgia.
